Description

Dodson Valco, Inc. operates as a master distributor, supplier and wholesaler of carbon steel weld fittings, flanges, forged steel fittings and valves.

This position is responsible for conducting day-to-day activities pertaining to all day-to-day orders for the Shipping Department. All while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively communicates with department supervisors and upper management.Ā  Utilizes the email groups to communicate with sales and customers.
  • Provides continuous email updates of products and shipments.
  • Manages day to day reports of orders needed to ship for the day.
  • Tends to drivers and utilizes system to identify which orders have to be loaded.
  • Uses network software to effectively route orders.
  • Keeps record of all motor freight leaving the facility.
  • Ensures motor freight shipments are being routed in a timely manner.
  • Properly matches shipments to the applicable loading forms ensuring vehicles are loaded with the correct material.
  • Tracks motor freight pick-ups.
  • Attends safety meetings to identify departmental issues and discuss ways to correct them.
  • Identifies areas of improvement while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Duties are not limited to those described above and may be expanded as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Work involves long periods of standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching; may also include climbing ladders.

Qualifications

  • Speak and read English. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • 1+ years PVF industry experience.
  • Ability to read and understand industry specifications, charts, and tables
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills. Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Ability to drive forklift and secure certification.
  • Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs. with back support.
  • Able to stand and operate a variety of equipment as assigned.
  • Takes initiative and can work independently.
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
